Give us a minute. We’ll give you 3 great reasons to support the footbridge.

Your signature will make a difference.

Reason #1
You voted for it and paid for it — so where’s your footbridge?

In 2012 Bend voters approved Bond Measure 9-86, which funded the Bend Whitewater Park, The Pavilion Skating Rink, and a footbridge completing the Deschutes River Trail.

The first two got built. But the footbridge? It’s still mired down by special interests and red tape.

Your signature will help get the project on track. And by supporting the footbridge you’ll be doing the right thing.

Why? See below.

Reason #2
Reduce traffic, help our environment

Currently up to 15,000 residents in southern Bend must drive through the center of town to access the Deschutes National Forest. A footbridge means more walking and biking, and less traffic at Reed Market Road.

The footbridge project will also restore badly damaged areas of the Good Dog Rimrock Trailhead section of the National Forest, near the proposed bridge site.

And don’t believe talk that the bridge somehow goes against state or federal scenic waterway protections — the project will work within that legal framework,100%.

Reason #3
Outdoor access for everyone in Bend. It’s only fair.

The footbridge will provide the missing link to complete a terrific Deschutes River Trail from Tumalo State Park to Sunriver. Everyone in Bend will benefit from this project.

That’s particularly true for woefully underserved neighborhoods in our community. Residents in southern Bend have almost no parks. Residents in the Deschutes River Woods have none. Let’s work to give everyone access to our greatest resource — the outdoors.
